A wedding with a view...

Umbria

A friend asked me what the most requested destinations were for wedding's in Italy. I didn't hesitate in answering:
1. Tuscany
2. The Amalfi coast
3. Venice
4. Rome
The reason is these are all well known locations, immortalised in films like 'The tallented Mr. Ripley' and 'Under the Tuscan sun' or before film were captured by Turner. I always enjoy introducing possible venues in other areas of Italy to my bride and grooms. For example Puglia with crystal clear waters and pretty Trulli and The Veneto with her hidden from tourists charms in the Prosecco hills.
Today I would like to introduce a very special venue in Umbria
Crowning an Umbrian hilltop with ravishing views, Palazzo Terranova is one of those rare and special finds. A place dedicated to the good things in life. Sprawling bedrooms with hand-painted frescoes and panelling have huge armoires, deep travertine stone bathtubs and shuttered windows framing rippling hillsides this is a very beautiful property offering luxurious surroundings and beautiful grounds. The staff work so hard looking after you and the chef, well you will want to kidnap him and take him home with you!

The panoramic view over the Umbrian hills is breathtaking. Even though Tuscan Florence is only 90 minutes away, the landscape is unmistakably Umbria!

There is a medieval town hall located 20 mins drive away for civil ceremonies and several beautiful churches nearby for religious celebrations. Just look at the unspoilt countryside you and your guests would be looking out over...

Palazzo Terranova has eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and in some cases the bathrooms are as large as the bedrooms! It makes it the perfect destination for a wedding . The Italian wedding planner organised a wedding here with 70 guests and arranged for 3 additional accommodation venues nearby and the transport to take the guests home as the sun rose!

Each room has been stylishly decorated using traditional Italian paint finishes, the beds are fantastically comfortable and the bathrooms are sumptuous, with large bottles of delicious shampoo and body lotion as well as a proper hairdryer.

Throughout the palazzo there is a wonderful smell of tuberose and jasmine, which comes from the many scented candles that are made to the owner's own recipe. The team at Palazzo Terranova have accomplished what they set out to do, after years of renovating and hard work they have create a feeling of private home and not one of a hotel. The last time I was here they were  talking about converting some of the cottages on the drive up the hill to the Palazzo. So their work continues!

The pool is set a short walk away from the Palazzo up a winding hill lined with lavender, ensuring that the gardens and terraces are left tranquil. The gardens are beautifully planted and the air is sweet with jasmine, lavender, roses and lemon trees.

Palazzo Terrannova is perfect for couples who are looking for something truly special, who enjoy fine wines and great food, who wish to party all night with no time restrictions, looking for somewhere that has every attention to detail taken care of, where the owners understand what you are  looking for and have created one of the best small hotels in Italy!
