A wedding in Umbria

Umbria is one of my favourite regions in Italy and as Castello di Monterone is this months vene of the month I thought I would share with you and hopefully inspire you, the wedding of  Joanne and Erik who's special day was captured by  Teresa of Iconoclash Photography…
Joanna’s family is from England and are Jewish, Erik’s family is from Canada and are Catholic, and they met in London. Because they both love Italy, they decided to get married in the medieval Castello di Monterone in the hilly countryside of Umbria. Their ceremony was one of the most beautiful and personal I’ve ever witnessed. Belonging to two different faiths, they decided to have a humanist officiant and included their favourite traditions of both Jewish and Catholic origin. They also wrote their own vows, in which Joanna, among other things, promised Erik “baked goods for the rest of your life.” Almost all guests travelled to Italy especially to celebrate with Joanna and Erik. They were amply rewarded with views of the Italian hills, the scent of wild-growing lavender and a lovely, laid-back celebration that lasted well into the night.
